Introduction

  • In the Union cabinet meeting chaired by our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, “(PMGDISHA) got a move and it aims at providing digital skill to six crore rural households. 
  • The mission was announced by minister, Mr. Arun Jaitley within the Union Budget 2016-17 and falls under Digital India programme.
  • For increasing the reach of the mission, 250,000 gram panchayats would offer names of 200-300 candidates on an average. only 6 percent rural households have a Laptop (computer) according to the 71st National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) conducted in 2014. 
  • This indicates around fifteen crore rural households don't have computers and therefore it's important that they're digitally illiterate. 

BUDGET allotted 

  • Rs. 2,351.38 crores 

OBJECTIVES of PMGDISHA

  • For providing digital skill to the agricultural (rural) voters of our country To widen the use of cashless transactions with the assistance of good phones specialise in Digital Wallets, UPI(Unified Payment Interface), mobile banking, USSD(Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) and AEPS(Aadhaar Enabled Payment System) 

CHARACTERISTICS of PMGDISHA

  • This mission can build a personal trained to operate computers The individual are ready to do cashless transactions with ease He/she are ready to use smartphones and tablets properly He/she are ready to send and receive e-mails He/she are ready to derive advantages from numerous government schemes 

MINISTRY-

  • Ministry of electronics and IT along with State and Union Territories by designated State Implementing Agencies and DeGS (District e-Governance Society) 

PHASES of PMGDISHA

PHASE 1: 

  • 25 lakh candidates will be given coaching in financial year 2016-17

PHASE 2:

  • 275 lakh are given coaching in financial year 2017-18

PHASE 3:

  • 300 lakh candidates be given coaching in financial year 2018-19 

ADVANTAGES of PMGDISHA

  • It will build lakhs of rural individuals, digitally literate it'll provide confidence and power to digitally illiterate by transmission knowledge about the operation of computers it'll teach them a way to do cashless transactions, that could be a large step in making India, a cashless economy it'll offer them social, economical and cultural benefits. 
  • It can produce opportunities for the rural youth Candidates are ready to use the web will offers the widest arrays of knowledge 

Conclusion

  • Hence, it's a good scheme for improving digital literacy of the agricultural (rural) population of our country and it'd immensely facilitate people in turning into cashless and additionally teaching others to become cashless too. 
  • So many cashless schemes area unit introduced within the country and to access those schemes properly, this mission will contribute massively.
